Vacation Hours – Accrual and Use

Vacation Hours – Accrual and Use

How many vacation hours do I receive per year?

If you work full time (40 hours per week), you are entitled to 200 vacation hours per year under the ABU Collective Labour Agreement.
For part-time employees, this entitlement is calculated proportionally. For example, if you work 36 hours per week, you receive 180 vacation hours per year.

How do I accrue my vacation hours?

Vacation hours are accrued monthly.

  • Full time (40 hours per week): 16.67 hours per month

  • Part time (36 hours per week): 15 hours per month

If you work less than a full year, you earn vacation hours only for the months you’ve worked.

How do I use my vacation hours?

You can request time off in consultation with ITSync or your client company.
When you take time off, the number of hours you would normally work is deducted from your balance.

Example (40-hour contract): two weeks off = 10 workdays × 8 hours = 80 hours deducted
Example (36-hour contract): one week off = 5 workdays × 7.2 hours = 36 hours deducted

Can ITSync decide when I take vacation?

Yes, up to 10 workdays per year may be designated as mandatory vacation days.
This usually happens during company-wide closures, for example between Christmas and New Year’s.

  • 40-hour work week: up to 80 hours may be mandatory

  • 36-hour work week: up to 72 hours may be mandatory

You’ll always be informed of these days well in advance so you can plan your other vacation time accordingly.

What happens if I work part time or change my hours?

Your vacation hours are always calculated based on your average weekly working hours.
If your contract changes, your vacation balance will automatically be adjusted to match your new schedule.
