Maternity & Paternity Leave
Maternity and paternity leave are significant aspects of employment, and it's essential for temporary employees to understand their entitlements. This guide provides a clear overview of what you can expect during these life-changing periods.
Maternity leave
- Full salary: During maternity leave, you will receive 100% of your salary.
- Duration of leave: The standard leave is 16 weeks, extended to 20 weeks for expecting twins.
- Flexible start: You can choose to start your leave 4 or 6 weeks before your due date. The remaining weeks are to be taken post-birth, ensuring a balance before and after delivery.
Paternity/Partner leave
- Initial leave: Partners are entitled to 1 workweek of birth leave.
- Extended leave option: An additional leave of up to 5 weeks is available, which can be taken over six months. During this extended period, you'll receive 70% of your usual pay.
Both maternity and paternity leaves are structured to support the wellbeing of parents and children during this critical time. Understanding these policies ensures that temporary employees can plan and make informed decisions about their leave and finances.
